Connection flights

Smart Connect

Germanwings operates over 500 flight connections throughout Europe, some of which require a stop-over. Change in Cologne, Stuttgart or Berlin and fly on to your destination. Catching a connecting flight is simple and easy – like Germanwings as a whole.

Please remember to check the entry provisions (visa or passport) for your destination and connecting airport before you board the flight.

Your luggage

Please remember to always pick up your luggage when changing flights and check in a second time.

The luggage surcharge is only levied once meaning there is no luggage surcharge between the connecting airport and the final destination.

If your departure airport is outside the EU, for customs reasons you cannot use our transfer desk in the baggage arrivals hall to check in. This is the case for connecting flights starting from the following airports: Belgrade, Istanbul, Izmir, Moscow, Split, St Petersburg, Zadar and Zagreb. Please pick up your luggage from the baggage arrivals hall and go to the regular check-in desk. Hand in your luggage and you will receive your boarding card for the connecting flight.
